Youths in Ghana are Making Farming Attractive Farming is generally known to be the profession of the uncivilised and that of the uneducated in this part of the world. Every youth you see around has the hope of becoming a Doctor or an Engineer in the nearest time to come. Contrary to old times, the youths of this millennium are consciously making efforts to make farming a covetable job. Also negating the old belief that, farming is for the poor and the unserious, youths are the ones storming the agricultural industries more than expected. According to the words of an interviewed youth, name withheld, he said being a farmer and proudly saying it attracts a lot of stigmatisation. It can be frustrating at some point. Moreover being a farmer in some other places around the world, you are more like a king. The reason for this is the fact that agriculture in this region is still crude, only a few practices mechanised farming. At the moment, the teaming youths in agriculture are gradually incorporating several modalities that will help ease labour as well as improve yield and profits. Such modalities includes the use of phone applications and application of scientific procedures in their way of cultivation or livestock farming. Realistically, most of their invested labour and finances gets spoilt due to the inability of the government to provide the necessities of optimal productivity. Such necessities include power supply, good road and stable power supply not to talk of irrigation where water is quite scarce. Driven by the dream of becoming a force in the world food market, the Akufo-Addo led team have made conscious efforts towards making agriculture lucrative and eye-catching.
