Act II Study Questions 1. Who do the jurors think changed his vote? Who actually changed his vote? Why? The jurors think that 5 changed his vote. Juror 9 was the one that actually changed his vote because he said that juror 8 was strong to stand against them all, and that he wanted to hear more. 2. Why is FOUR convinced the woman’s testimony is so persuasive? He is convinced because she remembers the most insignificant details. 3. What does the discussion about the el train call into question about the old man’s testimony? It calls into question how the old man could have heard the body thump on the ground. When the el train goes by it is very loud, and there is no way the old man could have heard anything going on. 4. When NINE suggests that the old man may have lied, what explanation does he offer? He says that the old man may have lied because he wanted attention. He pointed out his appearance and how ragged he looked, like he had been forgotten and was nothing in life. 5. Why do you think FIVE changes his vote to not guilty? He believes there is reasonable doubt about the knife and the old man’s story. 6. Is it ever proven that the boy did not yell, “I’m going to kill you!”? No it was not. Eight argued that it’s a phrase that people say all the time without meaning it, and it would be hard to know if he said it or not because of the noise from the el train. He may have said it, he may have not.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
