Dear Ms. Timberlake, My approach to this essay was, as usual, fairly straightforward. For the most part, I do admit to overlooking the general form we were supposed to follow when writing essays. I frequently abandon such form when given essay assignments, because I do not find interest in copying and overusing certain methods. I find it gets very dull after the hundredth time or so, making certain phrases or sequences come off as cheesy and overdone. I will admit that I removed much of the abstract speaking from my final paper as opposed to the rough draft, where I would go on about the way I personally examined the stories. It does discourage me whenever I am told to follow a specific form. I much prefer going my own route. I often feel that my own person insights help

Unformatted text preview: explain the point I’m trying to get across in a way that I cannot do from simply analysing a paper. Even though it was not perfect, it was what I enjoy most about writing: the personal touch. It greatly disappoints me when I am inhibited from doing this. And I understand that there will be specific assignments that will require my own insights, I would much rather be able to use them when I feel that it is needed. After all was said and done, I ended up removing a paragraph entirely. Although I did not follow the form, I did make a number of changes to better fit the purpose of the lesson.
