The way this whole situation could have been prevented could have been rather simple with a policy that would indicate a daily or weekly scan on the PoS systems. Another fix would having an IT specialized in security to go around specific areas doing a maintenance scan looking for the malware on each system. Checking with the PoS system provider and making sure they haven’t experienced any breach on their systems or rather build and implement a new PoS system that would use encryption on all the data that is gathered. This attack really happened due to negligence in checking their systems, the whole situation could have been avoided with the first idea of having a policy to check the system for any activity that would cause the PoS system to run out of normal use....
