Various benefits emerge from tourist engagements through actions such as export-import earnings, employment, and enhancing the demand for local goods and services (Hong 12). All these activities are essential for enhancing economic growth, and they have motivated most developing countries to invest in the tourism sector to promote expansion. Malaysia is one of the leading beneficiaries of tourism since the segment is the third largest contributor to the nation’s gross domestic product (Amir et al. 120). The sector presents multiple opportunities for the locals, which has necessitated the government to invest in enhancing service delivery through various avenues. These actions have motivated the expansion of the sector annually to signify its importance in the country’s economy. However, various challenges exist in the Malaysian landscape that requires solutions extending beyond government investments to provide comprehensive resolutions. Accommodation is one of the most prominent elements of the tourism sector regardless of whether the nation relies on local or international tourists. However, such aspects may limit most tourists from visiting the rural areas of Malaysia as they have an inadequate supply of such demands. This investigation intends to evaluate the impact of implementing the homestay program to open up such remote locations to the tourism and promote sectoral sustainability. Various opportunities exist in the Malaysian landscape that is essential in attracting tourists and maintaining international interest in the location. Malaysia’s culture is a prime tourist attraction drawing the attention of visitors from different regions that wish to experience it (Omar, Karim and Omar 321). Some of the interesting elements of Malaysia’s sociocultural background include its traditions and native cuisine. The industry also focuses on various aspects that include food and beverages, recreational and entertainment activities, transportation, and other relevant services such as souvenir and curio sales. Other tourist attractions in the country surround the natural landscape and how it relates to the local culture. For instance, wildlife reserves and game parks are among the top destinations along with other sightseeing locations.
