High: 75 + 72 + 75 + 79 + 72 + 72 + 75 = 520 / 7 = 74 Low: 57 + 63 + 59 + 57 + 54 + 52 + 61 = 403 / 7 = 58 Median is the middle value in a sorted data set. High: 72, 72, 72, 75, 75, 75, 79 So the median for these values is 75. Low: 52, 54, 57, 57, 58, 61, 63 So the median for these values is 57 Mode is the most commonly used value for a dataset and measures of center. A data set can have more than mode if two values have the same amount. High: 72(3), 75(3) 79(1) = 72 & 75 Low: 52(1), 54(1), 57(2), 58(1), 61(1), 63(1) = 57

Unformatted text preview: The measure which can be misleading in a data set is the mean because it can include an outlier which can drastically affect the mean but not the median. An outlier is a value which is either much larger or much smaller than the rest of the data collected. This can throw off a sample. The mean absolute deviation (MAD) for my data set is MAD (Mean Absolute Deviation) is the difference of the mean dataset and the actual values.
