Conclusion Abstract: The di ff erent colors of plants leaves come from a variety of pigmentations; the two main structures responsible for the coloration are chlorophylls and carotenoids. Chlorophyll is responsible for the green pigmentation, while carotenoids give o ff an orange/ yellow pigment. Moreover, Chlorophyll a and b are the major role players in photosynthesis; during photosynthesis, plants convert the sun’s light into energy to be made as sugars, in order for photosynthesis to be successful chlorophylls must be on the surface of the plant’s leaves. Additionally, the goal of this experiment is to separate and see the distinct pigmentation between the chlorophylls and carotenoids. Molecules A and B di ff er by the location of the double bonds; this di ff erence will slightly e ff ect the polarity of the molecules and will e ff ect how they interact with water molecules. guided Sand f sina.ae Ma NU U ei sand god Get O molecule A A Carotenoids molecule B P Carotene molecule C Xanthophyll
