Stable Vs Unstable Patient, Critical Thinking Exercise Instructions: This is a critical thinking exercise developed by myself to assist you in answering NCLEX questions by critically thinking. Read each of the examples and tell me which patient is the most unstable. Explain to me why. 1) A patient with multiple sclerosis is complaining of changes with his peripheral vision. 2) A patient with type 1 diabetes has burning and stinging in his feet. 3) A patient with a cast on his leg reports tingling toes. 4) A patient with myasthenia gravis has developed trouble talking. Which patient is most unstable? ___#3 _____ Why? __This patient is the most critical. I went back and forth between the diabetic and the cast and decided that a common problem diabetics have is peripheral neuropathy which would also cause numbness. This is definitely a problem the patient is going through but not as acute as the one with the cast. 1) A patient with left-sided weakness for 1 week.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
