Name: Christina Saliba 1. a) Describe the taste and appearance of the recipe that you prepared (this question must be completed for all 3 of your courses.) I made an appetizer that consisted of tortilla chips and guacamole. This appetizer looked like a regular guacamole dip as it had a light green colour from the avocados. As well, it was visibly shown that the guacamole had many visible phases, indicating that it was a heterogeneous mixture. Overall, the ingredients that were most visible in the guacamole were cilantro, tomatoes, avocado, and red onions. Then, the tortilla chips were placed on the left side of the guacamole. This meant that one side of the plate had tortilla chips and the other side had the guacamole dip. The guacamole tasted a little bit sweet due to the rich and creamy taste of the avocados. Sometimes the taste of guacamole is very strong due to cilantro, so I only added a small amount. The guacamole also had an acidic taste because of the limes, but I put a relative amount so that have an overwhelmingly sour flavour, Lastly, the tortilla chips were organic gluten free chips. These chips had a salty flavour, which perfectly complemented the guacamole because it allowed it to have a balanced taste from being both sweet and sour. I made an entrée that included boneless chicken slices, white rice, mushrooms, broccoli, and red onions. All of these ingredients were visible in the dish as the vegetables were placed over the rice. The chicken slices looked crispy and well done. While the rice was very white and had a light brown colour added to it from the fine egg noodles. As well, the plating style varied depending on the person. For example, my brother and I wanted our chicken slices to be placed above the vegetable rice, so that we could eat the chicken and vegetable rice together. However, both of my parents prefered the chicken slices on the side of the place and the vegetable rice on the other side of the plate. The entrée tasted very good and I was very happy with how the dish turned out. The chicken slices were seasoned with paprika, black pepper, and salt. Lemon and smashed garlic were also spreaded over the chicken slices to give it additional flavour. The chicken slices ended up being fairly rich in flavour, which was a good thing because the chicken did not have too much seasoning. In addition, I used jasmine rice and fine egg noodles. I seasoned it with salt and black pepper to give it a nice and moderate spicy flavour. For the vegetables that were used it gave off a salty flavour due to the seasoning. I made a dessert, which is commonly known as knafeh. The ingredients that were visible were the whole wheat bread crumbs, ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, and the syrup. The top of the knafeh looked very crispy due to the light brown colour of the crush whole wheat pita bread. On the inside of the knafeh, it was very white with a thick chunky texture. The knafeh tasted fairly sweet,( or not very sweet)

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
