Experiment 2.08 Series RLC AC-Circuit Lab Essay: The purpose of this experiment is to determine the maximum current and frequency at resonance. Resonance occurs in a series circuit when the supply frequency causes the voltages across L and C be equal and opposite phase. A coil with known inductance and internal resistance is connected in series with a known capacitance of 100 μF in an AC circuit. The current is monitored as the driving frequency is varies in interval of 5Hz from 40Hz to 100Hz. For this experiment after the circuit was set up in series the frequency on the wave generator was set to 40 and the voltage was set to 5V. The ammeter was turned on to the milli amperes, and then it was tuned into AC begore reading off the current at that particular frequency. After a graph of I/mA Vs. f/Hz was plot. The internal coil inductance was calculated to be 64.8mH using the following formula L=1÷( 4 π 2 f 2 C). In this experiment errors that’s may have occurred was not setting the correct voltage and frequency on the wave generator could cause inaccurate results. Another error that may have occurred is loose contact on the ammeter could cause inaccurate results. Another simple errors that could have occurred is not selecting the AC on the ammeter is a very silly but a mistake that could occur. In this experiment one had to ensure that the ammeter was tuned on and off between intervals so that the fuse would no blow. One also had to ensure that the circuit was set up correctly in series to obtain accurate results. In order to obtain accurate results, one should repeat trials....
