Liechtenstein’s education system is somewhat similar other German speaking countries. In the middle of the 1980’s, a series of reforms were made, and passed into law in the 1990’s. These reforms are reviewed regularly. The country has 14 primary schools, 9 secondary schools, and 2 public universities. Primary school is similar to elementary school in America, and secondary covers both middle and high school age groups.

For students over ten years of age, there is a 100% literacy rate for both males and females of the total population! In comparison, America has a 99.90% literacy rate. It should be noted that America has roughly 300 million in its population, while Liechtenstein has approximately 39,000 in theirs. Public education is mandatory and is illegal to home school any child without it being known by the government.

The 100% literacy rate has been achieved by Liechtenstein’s implementing additional institutions to assist students. There are also learning groups, students with various learning disabilities, and psychological support. America has many of the same groups and outside organizations that assist students with similar problems. School systems in America try to offer assistance within the student’s school, by way of social workers and guidance counselors. In both systems, these programs are funded by the state.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
