Ben Hawker 5th Hour February 21, 2019 The American Dream Many immigrants have come to the United States seeking a new life and new opportunities for their families. This is called the American dream. Although many people come to the United States looking for opportunity, this is not always the case and they may not be as successful as they planned. That’s why the American dream is not achievable. First of all, the American dream is not attainable because many people may not even have a chance to have a successful career here in the United States due to things like racism and discrimination. This is shown when the article titled, “Hollywood Dreams of Wealth, Youth and Beauty,” written by Bob Mendello states. “And yes, there were millions who were left off the dance floor” (Mondello 2). This then continues to go on depth with people of color as well as gay Americans were left out of their dreams until decades later.
