1) The purpose of beginning it off with individuals sense of identity is so that the reader understands that we make ourselves us with what we believe in, value and ect. Then going off to talk about shared webs of meaning is to show that we find people who believe in the same things, listen to the same music and all that and we create a group. In paragraph 4 it states “members of culture go about their daily lives within shared webs of meaning” That group is our social group, we tend to go to people who have the same lifestyle, who have the same ethnicity and they become apart of our ethnic group because we live in the same area/ were born in the same area and have somewhat of the same background. As stated in paragraph 1 “awareness of one’s membership in a social group that has a common culture” 2) When they say the “invisibility of one’s own culture” they're talking about how our shared webs of meaning is invisible. As stated in paragraph 4 “we can imagine culture as invisible webs composed of values, beliefs, ideas about appropriate behavior, and socially constructed truths.” What brings us together, what makes us a group is what we believe in and that’s invisible, it’s not a physical trait.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
