1 Jadlin Hunter Mrs. Parrish World Lit: 7th 24 October 2018 How Have Australian Animals Adapted to Their Environment? Wombats, Emus, and Devils, Oh My? Australia is often called a ‘death world’ for it’s insane climate, flora, and fauna. This occurred because Australia was very separate from other countries during its climatic development, meaning it was muchly undisturbed and left to develop in peace. This development led to the flora and fauna we see today. This flora and fauna had to adapt to the extremes of Australian weather. They did this via their after-birth process, diet, and circadian rhythms. Many species in Australia have a specific after-birth process. This process often some way involves protecting the young. According to ‘Australian Fauna’ by Dierde Manning, platypi, echidnas, and kangaroos all have pouches or borrows of some type for their young for as long as ten months. This is due to the harsh climate of Australia. WIthout these protective measures, many young would die before reaching their majority.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
