Everyday live are speeding up with new technology and the use of email, to help send and receive messages in a matter of seconds. However, that does not mean the United States Postal Office needs to be closed down. This service provides jobs for Americans all over the country and is still used hundreds of years later. The USPS plays a vital role in today's society and it is necessary to restructure the system to meet the needs of the fastly changing world. The people need the USPS, however, in order for the service to stay afloat they need to make necessary cutbacks. The Postal Service lost “$3 billion” as a result of “a 13 percent drop in mail volume”, Ed O’Keefe stated. This is an obvious problem as the service is losing a large amount of their profit. Postmaster General Potter claims that making necessary cutbacks will allow them to “provide Universal service”, which is needed in today's world, because not everyone has access to technology.
