The problem of unemployment leads many families into poverty when they aren’t able to provide for themselves anymore. Over one hundred million people are unemployed worldwide, which is why the policy SB 102 is important. This policy will help a certain area in the unemployment rate, ex-convicts. Once out of jail, people will search for a job but end up getting refused a position because of their criminal record. This policy regards the act of turning away someone with credentials just because they have a criminal record. SB 102 states that “an employer may not inquire into or consider an applicant’s criminal history on an initial employment application.
