The Dominican Dream August 7, 2012, a day i'll never forget because on that day my life changed drastically and I didn't even know what I was up against until my first day at school. I was born in The Dominican Republic and raised there till i was 10 years old. After my 6th birthday my parents separated and I moved in with my mom and her now husband Edward. During the time I lived with them they had two daughters, in 2009 my sister Winnifer who's 10 years old now and after her, in 2011 my other sister Yennifer. In 2010 my dad came to the United States and moved to New York city. After two years of working hard, he decided to do my papers and i remember the day he told me there was a possible chance i was going to come live with him, and i was very happy because I had always been a daddy's girls and still kind of am. I mean after all, I'm his only daughter so why wouldn't I be. When my dad filed for my papers his lawyer told him that he had to go to D.R to finish my papers there and take me to do all my analysis. I've never been injected and tested for any diseases in my life as much as that day. I remember they vaccinated me exactly 7 times and even my mom felt bad but I was okay with that because I knew that if I wanted to come here, I had to go through all of that. A month had passed and it was time for my interview at the Dominican Consul, I don't really remember how the interview went but all i know is that they had said yes and that's all that mattered at that moment. This all happened in 2012 before my birthday in march.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
