I wish I would I have taken your perspective when looking at Handel’s location. I understood that there was a myriad of factors that impacted Handel’s music, but I did not address the fact that the Anglican church was a part of England. Your exactly right; Handel grew up around the Lutheran Church in Germany. Therefore, I find it ironic how the Anglican Church influenced Handel’s writing of holy music. From research, I found out that Handel was born and baptized into Lutheran faith, but when he changed his citizenship to become a British citizen in 1727, he became a practicing member of the Church of England. Apparently, London had more of an impact than I thought. I also appreciated how you touched on the way popular times impacted both their careers. Unformatted text preview: music of many composers. Yes, both composers were great. I have to say though, I find Handel really interesting. His upbringing was similar to Bach’s yet completely different. In my post, I discussed how Handel’s father did not approve of his passion for music. Handel’s father was a barber- surgeon, so I think I understand how he wanted his son to pursue a more “suitable career”. Still, Handel pursued his interest which I completely commend him for. You explained Bach’s many contributions and works, but I still like Handel’s music a lot. I think Handel’s years in Italy influenced his music greatly as to why I love it so much. His emotion in his music definitely captures me....
