I. OBJECTIVES At the end of this exercise, students must be able to: a) Define what is an algorithm b) Know how to express algorithms using pseudo code, flowcharts, and programming languages II. BACKGROUND INFORMATION Algorithm is the step-by-step sequence of instructions that describe how the data is to be processed to produce the desired output Algorithm can be expressed using the following: Natural Languages Pseudocode Flowcharts Programming Languages Pseudocode is a program design technique that uses English words. Pseudocode cannot be compiled nor executed, and there are no real formatting or syntax rules. Flowchart is a graphical representation of an algorithm. III. LABORATORY ACTIVITY Write the algorithm, provide the pseudo code, and draw the flowchart of the following program specifications ACTIVITY 1.1: Converting Length in Feet to Centimeter Write an algorithm and draw a flowchart to convert the length in feet to centimeter.

### What students are saying

• As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

• I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.

• The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
