KINGDOM PROTISTA Plankton is a protozoan. Kingdom Animalia (family tree) – to show relationship and ancestry Top - Animal Phyla/ Different groups of Animals -descendants Bottom - Ancestors/ All animals on earth came from this ancestor ( Ancestral Colonial Choanoflagellate )- protozoan: animals came from protists Colonial or Colony - group of cells -form a group but it’s not yet achieving multicellular level, functioning as individuals Choanoflagellates- ancestor of animals o Sponges- stationary organisms => filter feeders (“kung ano lang ang makukuha nila”) -simplest animals - have cells known as Choanoflagellates Animals & Choanoflagellates => 350 gene families are similar Multicellularity - cells are dependent to each other -evolved from colonial organisms Ex. of green algae-> members of k.
