SELF-ASSESSMENT AND REFLECTION Self-Assessment and Reflection An analysis of conscious leadership and as it compares to other forms of leadership will be completed, along with explaining emotional intelligence, and detailed an explanation of self- assessment results. Conscious leadership is the key to building a thriving and prosperous business (Rosales, P 2018). When talking about being a conscious leader, it is the ability to bring oneself into the leadership role. Conscious Leadership vs Other Leadership Theories Conscious leadership as describe by John Mackey and Raj Sisodia is “strong individuals who possess exceptional moral courage and are able to withstand constant scrutiny and criticism from those who view business in a more traditional manner.” (Mackey, J., & Sisodia, R. (2014). There are four principles that Mackey talks about in his book. The first one is Purpose or Higher Purpose ; the company exists for this very reason. Oppose to being all about making profits and creating value for shareholders, higher purpose focuses more on stakeholders. This can increase team commitment, creativity and innovation. In the book Mackey describes that people can discover meaning by doing works that matter and is the driving force behind the organization. Second principle is Stakeholder Integration ; which is trading off leaning towards shareholders to creating win/win situations for stakeholders. Most businesses can come at a standstill where they have to put customers first or employees. Stakeholder integration states that if you adequately take care of your employees first, they will take care of your customers. The more satisfied your customers are the happier your employees will be. Third is Conscious leadership , where conscious leaders inspire consistency, loyalty, and high performance from their teams.
