Cat Obermeier Long-Held Myth About Cheetahs Busted In 1973 a study was conducted that involved cheetahs running on treadmills, this study concluded that cheetahs would abandon a hunt when they became overheated. This lead to the myth that the cheetahs hunting success was due to their motor running a little too hot. Robyn Hetem, a biologist from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa, and her team conducted a study that has found that a cheetah’s body temperature remains stable during the chase portion of a hunt, and it is not until after the hunt that their body temperature rises. Hetem and her team gathered this information by using four different cheetahs by implanting them with sensors that monitored body temperature, and discovered that the rise in body temperature happens after successful and unsuccessful hunts. The team hypothesizes that the rise in body temperature after the hunt is caused by heightened stress levels due to the animals being on the lookout for predators. Cheetahs spend an extended period of time on the lookout for predators

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
