Women in the early 1950s have been portrayed to smile, wave, and be the most wonderful housewife they can be. The Women Movements was like a “get out of jail free card” in Monopoly meaning that women now restricted and who felt alone could become more free and get out of the traditional roles of a woman. The movements allowed women to take back their homes and women were getting better jobs than before. It also brought together all women black, white, and even lesbians to join forces helping each other to achieve equality. These movements inspired women to get out of their comfort zones and stand up for themselves. One of the first pioneer feminists was Kathrine Switzer she was the first woman to ever run the Boston Marathon in 1967. The Boston Marathon is known to have the worst conditions ever for 70 years they excluded woman from running. Since there was not a girls track team Katherine joined up with Arnie Briggs a mailman and the manager for the tracks boys team. Arnie would tell Katherine of his stories of the Boston Marathon, and Katherine had enough and decided to run it. She used her initials to enter and once that gun sounded they all took off and when men would pass by they were so excited to see a woman running. This was until the race
