2 Cultural Diversity Training Candidate A description of yourself in terms of cultural diversity. To what ethnic, cultural, and other groups do you belong? Describe the members of your cultural group. I am now considered multiracial. However, for most of my life and how the government sees me, I am considered white. My great grandmother was Cherokee. This is a little about the Cherokee people. Since the earliest contact with European explorers in the 16th century, the Cherokee people have been consistently identified as one of the most socially and culturally advanced of the Native American tribes. On my father’s side, his family is from Scotland. I identify more with native Americans and know more about their culture than that of Scotland. What is the distinction between racial and ethnic groups? The term racial group is reserved for minorities and the corresponding majorities that are socially set apart because of obvious physical differences. Notice the two crucial words
