2 Diversity: Advantages and Challenges What you have learned about your own racial, ethnic, or cultural history? My studies brought to remembrance my Native American heritage the Cherokee people and that the Cherokee people consistently identify as one of the most socially and culturally advanced of the Native American tribes. Also, my white ancestry, and the way white Americans treated other races. I studied how whites possessed most of the United States. I have determined to be the best American I can be through honesty, integrity, and wisdom. What information about diversity in the United States has helped you better understand or relate to others in ways that you may not have in the past? The term "racial group" is reserved for minorities and the corresponding majorities that are socially set apart because of noticeable physical differences. A minority group is a subordinate group whose members have significantly less control or power over their own lives than do the of a dominant or majority group. In sociology, minority means the same as subordinate, and dominant is used interchangeably with a majority. With this information, I have a new understanding of the struggle many have dealt with because of their race. I will not be a part of this division any longer. Trends in immigration will continue to shape the demographics of the United States. Extend these trends to the year 2050. What do you think the U.S. population will look like in the year 2050? Provide an example.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
