MISLEADING GRAPH 2 Graphs are used in the visual representation of data, primarily statistical data. They are used to capture the first impression of the reader without much reading; that is, the reader gets a visual image of the observation. They illustrate the relationship between data for more natural understanding. The primary purpose of graphs is to present the complicated or complex information in a simple to understand format and in less space (Slutsky, 2014). Examples of graphs used are bar graphs, histograms, pie charts, line graph flow charts, and many others. Graphs can be misleading if not well-plotted. To relay the intended information correctly, well-plotted, and appropriately named. Misleading graphs may be created intentionally to hinder proper interpretation or accidentally due to being unfamiliar with graphing software. For
