Available at: Summary: In this article, written by highly well-respected professors and authors, discusses the police violence and killing of young African American people who were the targets that have reached epidemic proportions and has captured the attention of the entire country. Police brutality has caused a considerable amount of public concerns and the impression that law enforcement is now known as an ‘unsafe’ place for many young black children and adults. The whole focus of this article is to research the social psychology that has studied many dimensions of this layered issue that caused many problems around the world and has generated disparate findings regarding the role of police violence. The process of implicit dehumanization of young African Americans has been proposed as particularly noticeable in making the shoot/don’t shoot decisions and protesting for their rights. The article concludes by stating four young African Americans, which were: Sandra Blan, Mya Hall, Tamir Rice, and Michael Brown, were recently killed by police officers. After the killing of these young adults, the list of causalities is ever-growing and getting longer as the years go on. The article also explains the average amount of Black people who were the targets and gunned down by a White police officer annually, which caused approximately two deaths per week. Overall, police offenders do not know how to handle situations correctly, which risks the lives of young African Americans and citizens around the world.
