CASE STUDY ANALYSIS Case Study Analysis In the case of Kathy and Tony there was a large amount of violence, violence occurred in their past relationships and now in their current relationship together. Kathy was a mom of three that struggled with drug abuse, in her previous marriage she and her boys had been beating by her husband (LeCroy, 2014). Tony had previous marriages that failed, his first wife left with his daughter because she didn’t want to deal with the abuse. According to Tony his second wife just left, there was no reason for her to leave. Upon the arrival of Kathy and Tony’s baby, the hospital social worker felt that the two wouldn’t be able to care for the infant and filed an abuse and neglect case (LeCroy, 2014). When the social worker first arrived, there wasn’t much of acknowledgment of her presence in the house, the couple had some friends over and weren’t ready for the visit. This gave the impression that they hadn’t remembered that there was an appointment that day. At the time of the first visit the couple had been together for two years, Tony wanted no part in the meeting, nor did he care of why there was a social worker in his house. The social worker explained why she was there, and that the hospital had some concerns about the children, Tony still wanted no part and Kathy was quiet. She left her information; told them they could call if they needed anything at any time. It was only a few days when the social worker got her first call from the couple, Tony called upset and explained that Kathy tried to hurt herself by taking Valium and alcohol. Tony wanted a meeting the next morning, at this time it was obvious that Kathy was badly bruised, and she didn’t know why. Tony explained that he only slapped her a few times trying to wake her up. The social worker still understand why Tony had called her, she asked some questions and eventually they both agreed that they needed some counseling, neither one of them wanted another failed relationship.
