In this course, students explore the big questions that make up a worldview, questions like “Why are we here?” and “What is my purpose?” Students examine how Christians answer these questions and work on exploring their own worldviews, as well as learning how worldview influences one’s perceptions, decision making, and everyday life. Students should use one of the following versions: the English Standard Version (ESV), the New International Version (NIV), or the New American Standard Bible (NASB). Each of these versions is available in print and also for free at . Students might also find it helpful to choose a study Bible such as the or the NIV Life Application Study Bible ESV Study in order to take advantage of additional information. Bible Bible Basics Description: If you are unfamiliar with the Bible or need a refresher, please review the "Bible Basics" PowerPoint. Resources to Be Used in CWV Writing Assignments Description: Acceptable resources for assignments (in addition to the textbook, lecture, and Bible) are the following: GCU Library sources (books, peer-reviewed journals, encyclopedias) Published books (not self-published) Students must follow the guidelines for reference page and in-text citations from the GCU Style Guide found in the Student Success Center. Topic 1: Understanding Worldview T Description Objectives: Define the concept of worldview and its utility and value. Evaluate basic worldview families prominent in Western cultures (atheism, pantheism, theism) and the sources of knowledge that each emphasizes. Reflect on one's personal commitments with respect to basic worldview components in comparison to one's understanding of Christianity.
