5.1 INTRODUCTION Dispersion: Mixing and spreading of the injected fluid is kno wn as dispersion. 2 Miscible displacement is the most efficient improved oil recovery method. No capillary force theoretically recover 100% Most miscible flooding projects use CO 2 or nitrogen as solvents to increase oil recovery. Some cases, injected solvent used in small quantitates as a slug followed by water or gas. Dispersion Dilute and reduce the effectiveness of EOR. General cases, dispersion causes a solvent to mix, spread, and contact the displaced fluid. Dispersion Improves the displacement efficiency.

5.2 Laboratory First-Contact Miscible Displacements 4 First-contact miscible displacement : two fluids are fully miscible upon first contact. Developed miscible displacement ( Multiple-contact miscible displacement ): the injected fluid is not initially miscible with the displaced fluid. However, after a certain time has elapsed, mass transfer between the injected and the displaced fluids causes the two fluids to become miscible. First-contact miscible displacements are the most efficient type of displacements.

Gravity factor: two-side effects. Gravity override, underride, or tongueing can significantly reduce the displacement efficiency. But by careful engineering, gravity o verride can be used to EOR.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
