FACIAL RECOGNITION AND BIOMETRICS 2 Facial Recognition and Biometrics Introduction Information technology (IT) is defined as the use of computers, networking storage of information, and other infrastructure to create process and store electronic data. IT in the contemporary world is used significantly in enterprises and not for personal and entertainment technologies. Computer technology and telephony is the commercial use of IT. It is due to IT that the contemporary world has been able to experience some of the biometric technologies such as sparking of imagination like face recognition. The arrival of facial recognition in the world has prompted concerns and profound reactions among people all over the world. By definition, facial recognition is a process of recognizing the face of human beings through the use of technology. It is a system that uses biometric technology in mapping the face features of a person from a video or a photo. It is used by the modern world to provide a platform for the identification and verification of a person's identity. Despite the benefits it comes with, facial recognition has also raised some privacy issues. On the other hand, IT has led to the creation of a Biometric technology system that enabled the world to be able to use biological features that include voice, figure prints, and vein patterns. Besides, IT biometric technology has led to the rise of the surveillance industry in the world. The increase of International "Big Brother" has been attributed to ever-advancing technology. Since the company deals with the incorporated study, identification of vast numbers of technology, its growth is based on entirely on surveillance technologies. Information Technology Support to the Development of Facial Recognition Software Areas of interest, Activity, and Issue Facial recognition software has its historical development advance achievements attributed to the fast rise of IT. Just like any other type of biometric identification platform, facial recognition makes use of a computer to analyze face in a photograph or other type of biometric that that is marked and looks like a specific marker (Basel‐Vanagaite et al., 2016). Biometric facial indemnification is just like fingerprint identification because it also uses aspects of the face like comparing lines in a figure print. If a sample shows any similarity with the example pattern, a match is declared positive. Information Technology has led to the emergence of several methods that are used to identify a face. One of the ways is the identification of a look through replacement of an image with a healthy version that is capable of accentuating the most details that a relevant during facial identification. In the case there is a gradient, facial recognition ensures that it replaces all the pixels that a present in a photo so that it can compare the pixels around it. The gradient method makes use of relative pixel measures and brightness around the pixel (Basel‐Vanagaite et al.,
