Alissa Thompson October 12, 2010 Gay Rights Tyler Clementi taking his life because his roommate humiliated him for being gay is a horrific incident. Although I do not agree with gay rights, I don’t think that gay people should be humiliated to the point where they are killing themselves; that’s just wrong. The only reason I feel this should be treated as a crime is because it caused a person to take their life. Since they were both eighteen years old, it couldn’t be considered child pornography. Also, they were only caught kissing, not anything worse than that. I don’t think Clementi’s roommate was intentionally trying to make him kill himself. It seems to me that his roommate was a homophobic; if he wasn’t, I don’t think he would’ve gone through all the trouble to set all of this up to humiliate Clementi. If they are willing to fight for our country, it shouldn’t matter if they are gay or not. Another thing I do not agree with is the sodomy issue from years ago. Although sodomy includes same-sex and different-sex couples, it is mainly used to describe gays and lesbians. Again, even though I do not agree with gay rights, I don’t think gays or lesbians should be arrested or put in jail or anything like that just because of their sexuality. Gay rights has been, and probably always be an issue in the United States. I don’t think the criminal justice system will ever find a happy medium that will satisfy people for and against gay rights....
