2 RUNNING HEAD : A CASE ANALYSIS OF CONIFER CORPORATION Abstract: In this paper it is paper presented about the case summary of the conifer corporation. This is the company that is established 30 years ago and deals with the windows and logs . it is the largest company and sells it product nationally and internationally. As there are multiple competitors that also goes in the same market and sells the undifferentiated product it is really difficult to differentiate its product. The only factor that differentiate the product in the market is its packaging. Consumer decision is based on the packaging of the product, the better the packaging consumer chances to purchase the product is high . In last 5 years the Conifer product has been the highest selling product in the market however it starts to lose its consumer from year or a two due to bad packaging. Hence in this paper it is discussed about the symptoms where the things went wrong ,the main cause of the symptoms and the solution or the actions that the executives should take to solve the problem are discussed in this paper.

3 RUNNING HEAD : A CASE ANALYSIS OF CONIFER CORPORATION Introduction: The case study “conifer corporation” is the major discussion presented over here. Conifer corporation is a sawmill operation in Oregon that is owned by major forest company but operates independently of the parent company. The 30 years before established company have 60% of the higher-grade lumber as a finished product with high packaging and 40% output are from low grade lumber log. The conifer has 1 general manager ,16 supervisor and support staff with 180 unionized employees. Apart from unionized employee another employee is paid in monthly basis and unionized are paid on hourly rate basis. The working department of the company is divided in six departments : boom, sawmill, planer packaging,shipping,and maintenance.

4 RUNNING HEAD : A CASE ANALYSIS OF CONIFER CORPORATION Each department expect from the packaging has the supervisor. These department work in the different time shift. Sawmill, boom ,and packaging works in the morning shift and afternoon shift rotating the duty by employees. The planer and shipping operate only in morning shift and maintenance department works in night shift.
