Cancer is the name of a collection of related diseases and in all types of cancer, the body’s cells divide without stopping, which spread into the surrounding tissue. Cancer doesn’t discriminate and can start just about anywhere in the human body. The human body is fascinating, and as cells grow old or get damaged, they’ll die, and new cells will be generated. When cancer develops, this process is not as orderly. Cells that should have died do not, cells become abnormal, or cells generate when they aren’t needed. These constantly dividing cells may form growth tumors, which are tissue masses; however, cancers such as leukemias don’t generally form tumors. Cancer is uncontrolled cell growth and mutations in genes can cause cancer by speeding up cell division rates or inhibiting normal control, like programmed cell death. As a mass of cancerous cells grows, it can develop into a tumor. Cancer can be considered many diseases as there are several types of cancer, not just one disease. Cancer can start in the breasts, colon, lungs, or blood. While cancers are similar in some ways, they differ in the ways which they grow and spread. Cancers are alike on the sense that our cells need to divide in an orderly fashion and die when damaged or old. Cancer cells continue to grow and produce new cells crowding out the old cells, causing issues in the part of the body which the cancer started. Cancers differ as some grow and spread quickly while others do not.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
