Rationale for the inclusion of the course/module in the programme: Operation Management in organization is important to improve the overall productivity. The ratio of input to output is termed as productivity. Operation management plays a crucial role in an organization as it handles issues like design, operations, and maintenance of the system used for the production of goods. 3. Learning outcomes: At the end of the course, student should be able to: Analyse the main important functional areas of operations management in a given situation using variety methods and tools, in managing and improving operations decisions. (PLO1, C3) Prepare a project report on particular concepts and applications on quantitative and qualitative models in manufacturing and service organizations best practices. (PLO4, A4) Analyse the quantitative and qualitative data that is related to a particular problem or opportunity to use appropriate methods and techniques to make well reasoned operations decisions. (PLO6, C4, A3) 8. Transferable Skills: Critical Thinking skills, Problem-solving skills, Team-work skills 9. Teaching-learning and assessment strategy Lectures, tutorial, e-learning using SMARTUMS Learning Management System Link with SMARTUMS For 14 week (2 hours Lecture 1 hour Tutorial) Midterm examination and final examination 1 Hour for 10% Conducting Project-based learning for assessment of assignment Each Group must be from the same Section which consist to 6-7 members only 10. Synopsis: This course is intended to give the students greater understanding of the details of Operation Management (OM), particularly the qualitative and quantitative operations management techniques including their application to functional areas of the business enterprise and operations control. Topics include product and production planning, facilities layout and location planning, project evaluation and control, linear programming, waiting line, transportation model, inventory modelling and quality planning and control.
