NEGLIGENT SECURITY 2 Negligent Security According to Ortmeier (2017), property and premises owners have the responsibility of keeping their areas safe for the people using them. Negligent security is also known as inadequate security. Negligent security claim involves conditions in which the property owner fails to offer maximum security to the people using his or her premises in a foreseeable criminal acts like robbery, rape or assault. A criminal activity is perceived foreseeable in case a similar incidence took place in the past within the premises or around the area but nothing has been done to mitigate the jeopardy. Negligent security claims can be raised in various settings, both commercial and residential premises. The party responsible for negligent security lawsuit might be property owner, security personnel, landlords, business owners, security contractors, business owners and property lessees.
