OPENNESS VS. SECURITY 2 Openness vs. Security The information age is a computer/digital/new media age in the 21st century. This is a historic period is characterized by the rapid transformation of traditional industry through industrial revolution influenced by industrialization toward the information technology-based economy (Philips, 2018). Information Age has offered unprecedented access to global markets that consequently leads to enhancement of the world economy. Individuals, organizations and government entities can grab the opportunities brought about by Information Age to manage the risks and threats posed by economic and industrial espionage. In the modern or information age, due to relatively cheap as well as ever-changing technology, economic and industrial espionage poses real threats to individuals, organizations and the government entities. The victims of such forms of espionages might embrace elements of the information age to mitigate these risks (Fidler, 2013). For instance, some business organizations and companies have considered investing in computer software that is capable of detecting specific activities that are not outwardly obvious.
