FOUR-STEP PROBLEM-SOLVING PROCESS 2 Four-Step Problem-Solving Process “In your own words, describe the four-step problem-solving process. Explain why each step is important.” The four-step problem solving process include understanding of the problem, devising a plan, carrying out the plan and looking back ( Polya , 2017). Each step is very important in the process of solving the problem. 1. Step 1: Understand the Problem: This step is important because it helps in restating the problem. It is in this step when the individual identifies the principal facets of the problem. Read, reread and understand the problem to be solved before attempting it ( Polya , 2017). 2. Step 2: Devise a plan (translate): after understanding the problem, translate it into your own level or version. This step is important because is where the strategy of solving the problem is developed ( Polya , 2017).

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
