- 1 st and 14th ammendents Cold War - Distrust between the U.S. and the U.S.S.R Truman Doctrine - “The buck stops here.” - Set a new course for U.S. in helping countries trying to promote democracy and fight off communism - Helped Greece and Turkey by asking Congress for $400 million in aid - April 12 - 1953 Marshall Plan - In order to contain the spread of Communism Sec. of State George Marshall provided $13 billion to Western Europe in grants and loans. Offered to East too but Stalin would not allow it. - Used for food, fuel, etc. - Created economic stability, positive relations and trade for the U.S. Cold War & berlin Airlift - WWII ends & Germany is divided into zones - Berlin was also divided. 1948 Stalin cut off all roads, rail and water traffic into Western Berlin - U.S. & British FLEW in supplies to Western Berlin
