Discussion a. Explain the advantages of mild steel in comparison with aluminium in terms of Young’s modulus, yield strength and ultimate tensile strength? Based 00 the stress - strain graph, the young’s modulus of aluminium is 9.41 x 10 12 Pa And for mild steel was 1.29 x 10 13 Pa, this shows that mild steel have higher reading of young’s modulus than aluminium. The yield strangle of mild steel is 565 MPa whereas the aluminium yield strangle is 238 MPa and also the ultimate tensile strength for mild steel has 665 Mpa and aluminium is 303 MPa . From this value that we obtain mild steel has the advantage in all manner than aluminium and this shows that aluminium has low energy plastic deformation and low density which evaluate that it is not very stiff and strong compare to mild steel which has high ultimate tensile strength and very stiff which make it very ideal material to use in wide range in civil application.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
