After reading "the amicus report on Arnes Orbison", I realized that the law and psychology go hand in hand but are also separate in different ways, when it comes to dealing with legal situations. In the case of Jeremy, a child who needed to be placed in a permanent home by the DHHS due to parental issues, the law was used to tell the facts of what happened, with no bias against or for anyone's character or well being. When we see the psychology at play in this situation, we see parents being evaluated as to whether or not they would be fit parents for Jeremy. We also see that the situation as a whole is being evaluated because it is a complicated situation, where there are siblings involved, aunts and uncles involved, and

It is important to recognize that both the law and psychology seem to be equally important here, as they each serve a purpose in getting this child into the right home. A forensic psychologist in this situation would be looking for what parts of the psychology of the family dynamic are important to recognize here, while also making sense with the law. They have to work within the legal system while still using psychology as the basis for what they practice, which is a difficult balance and often involves thinking hard and researching what are the best options in these cases....
