In your own words describe what Continuous Improvement is Continuous improvement means to consistently strive to improve your products or service according to the highest standards. 2. What is PDCA cycle? How is this used with continuous improvement? The Plan–Do–Check–Act cycle is a four-step model for carrying out change. Just as a circle has no end, the PDCA cycle should be repeated again and again for continuous improvement . The PDCA cycle is particularly effective when intending to make minor changes to a process and when the solution to the problem is known. It allows to verify the feasibility of a proposed idea whether it is an incremental or a breakthrough improvement. Repeating the PDCA cycle frequently will help implementing Kaizen and other continuous improvement initiatives. 3. 3. What is TQM? TQM stands for total quality management. A core definition of total quality management (TQM) describes a management approach to long-term success through customer satisfaction. In a TQM effort, all members of an organization participate in improving processes, products, services, and the culture in which they work. 4. What is the six sigma approach? Six Sigma is an approach to data-driven management that seeks to improve quality by measuring how many defects there are in a process and systematically eliminating them until there are as close to zero defects as possible 5. What does lean manufacturing involve? Lean manufacturing is a methodology that focuses on minimizing waste within manufacturing systems while simultaneously maximizing productivity. 6. Why is it important for organisations to have a formal policy, procedure and system in place for continuous improvement? There are many reasons why formalizing continuous improvement is important including It gets everyone using same language It creates a mindset It makes people accountable It reinforces the importance. 7. What is Knowledge Management? What is the relationship between knowledge management and continuous improvement? The knowledge management is the process that carry out the creating, sharing, using, and managing the knowledge and information of an organisation. The knowledge management system enables the transfer and storing of knowledge to assist employees in their work activities. The sharing of information supports life-long learning, as it encourages all employees to learn and may lead to changes in work practices that will improve performance and support continuous improvement efforts.
