The aim of the strategic management course is to understand and master the concepts and tools used to manage organisations as a whole. This course prepares students to make and implement reasoned decisions about the development of the firm. It includes concepts specific to strategy and relies on knowledge acquired in fields useful for strategy development (finance, marketing, and economics). Providing students with an overall vision of the firm and by developing a methodology to respond to the complexity of strategic decisions in rapidly changing environments, the strategy course aims to encourage enlightened and responsible decision making in contexts that are evolving and unique. During this course, students will elaborate a project on a concrete strategic issue in teams; the goal of this project is for students to apply strategic concepts and methods to a specific business situation. Students will perform the diagnosis of a specific strategic issue, identify strategic opportunities and threats, assess the capabilities possessed and/or required for the company to tackle the strategic issue, propose strategic recommendations, make operational choices for implementing these recommendations, and assess the feasibility of these recommendations. Objectifs du cours (course objectives or Learning outcomes) The course prepares students in: Identifying and examining the components of strategic issues and strategic decisions facing businesses and how current thinking addresses these issues.
