LAB 7: MAE 311L - CALIBRATION TO: MR. ANDREW HUTSON FROM: HASAN ALBAHRANI ABDULLAH ALAJMI MUSAED ATEYYAH SECTION: MAE 311L - 05 LAB DATE: JULY 25, 2019 DUE DATE: AUGUST 1, 2019 1. SUMMARY Transducers are widely used in daily life to measure the quantity and produce output from it. The objective of this lab is to calibrate and use the transducers. Calibration performed in the lab includes making adjustment in the sensing process so that quantity is being accurately measured and displayed at the output. Three transducers are used and these are the load cell, pressure transducer and a thermocouple device. Calibrating the pressure sensor includes calibrating the pressure standard and output reading accordingly. The same goes for the load cell which requires the fitting at the proper place initially and only the solid fixture of it on the hard surface gives the proper weight. Between the load cell and the Arduino Uno, load cell amplifier is required to be placed. 2. RESULTS AND ANALYSIS 2.1. Process Of Collecting Data In the field of metrology, measurement and calibration is an important step for the obtaining the accurate results. For the instrument or device to calibrate, the instrument under testing measurements are compared with the standard calibration chart available. The calibration charts are created from the international institutes which are licensed or allowed by the governmental organization to set the standards [1]. The calibration process starts with the design of the measuring instrument and from the device. Initially, few of the measurements needs to be made with the device and they are being noted down [2]. Now the noted values need to be compared with the calibration curve available for that certain transducer. Usually, after successful calibration, the mark for the calibration is placed on the device [3].
