Question 1: Snowmobiling in Jellystone National Park In our recent efforts to sustain Jellystone National Park’s unique and sensitive ecology we released a new set of regulations in regard to snowmobile use within the park during the winter season. In an attempt to offset the potentially harmful effects of snowmobile activity on wildlife within the park we conducted in environmental assessment (EA) to determine whether regulation was necessary. The EA addresses the effects on the environment if no action was taken, snowmobiles were disallowed from the park, and the proposed regulations implementation. From this EA we determined Findings of No Significant Impact (FONSI) on the immediate environment if the proposed regulations were to take effect in a trial year, giving no reason to produce an Environmental Impact Statement EIS (Salzman 2014).
