COURSE IDENTIFICATION Course Code: EL 108 Course Title: Teaching and Assessment of Grammar Pre-requisite: EL 102- Structure of English Credit: 3 units II. COURSE DESCRIPTION: The course engages learners in understanding the distinctions between and among four types of grammar, functional, prescriptive, descriptive and pedagogic. Aside from the emphasis on how teaching and assessment vary considering the four types, the course also provides opportunities to discover the role of grammar in achieving communicative competence. III. OLPC-SMI VISION: OLPCC, a Catholic college, as an evangelizing arm of the local church, envisions a totally transformed community. OLPC-SMI MISSION: Thus, OLPCC as a sharer in the life and mission of the local church commits to: a. Provide equal opportunity and access to quality education integrating Gospel and Filipino values, responsive and relevant to the needs of the times; b. Create in the school community an atmosphere and opportunities for individual transformation that lead to Christian community living; and c.
