Johnny Mnemonic In the short story “Johnny Mnemonic,” technology has influenced the human condition in many ways, as extreme or bizarre alterations to the body are considered normal. Many of the characters in this story have at least one different alteration on their body that our society may not consider “normal.” Johnny, however, is influenced by technology as he is also used as a “blind receptacle” for his job, to hold other people’s information in his mind. Technology in this short story is crucial, as this story takes place in the future. With improved and advanced technology, it is not unusual for people to have alterations to their bodies, such as Dog, who is only a fifteen-year-old boy with “fangs and the bright mosaic of scars” on himself. In addition, Molly Millions, has “blades snicked straight out from their recesses beneath her nails.” These changes shows that technology influences the human body because these technological
