Methods of Psychological Research and Analysis
Psychology can be simply defined as a branch of science that deals with the study of
mental processes and general behaviors of people. This scientific study focuses on critical
thinking. Chapter one the book "
Visualizing Psychology
" written by Siri Carpenter and Karen
Huffman discusses several topics including the psychology research methods. The same topic
has also been well elaborated in the article entitled “
Overview of Psychology Research Methods
”.
This article has evaluated variables that guide a research, methods of research and some sources
of data in psychological research and all have been summarized below.
Variables can be defined as a set of events that are related and that can take more than
one value. There are two types of variables in research. The two types of variables are
independent and dependent variables. Independent variables are under the control of the
researcher while the dependent variables are affected by the independent variable.
