I Feel The Tiger in Me
The book “Never Fall Down” by Patricia McCormick, is about Cambodian genocide led
by Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge. Pol Pot is the man created and told the Khmer Rouge what to
do. The Khmer Rouge is a group of people that put others into camps, and would kill them. In
the book “Never Fall Down” a boy named Arn, has to go through all the stuff the Khmer Rouge
put him through. Because of the things he goes through, he has to learn to cope, survive, and heal
from the atrocities that he and others committed.
In order to understand why healing was necessary, it is first necessary to understand some
of the crimes that the Khmer Rouge committed.
The Khmer Rouge limited others freedom.
Limited people's freedom, when this person could of been capable of alot, they ruined their life.
It says in the book. “I only can eat chaff now it's not real food. It's the skin of rice, what left
behind after threshing” (McCormick 83). Even tho its not good food, he is eating it to survive,
