BIOL 214 SI SESSION 11/1/19 1) Students should be able to generate and interpret graphs from the research discussed in class by the end of the session. 2) Students should be able to articulate the methods taken to answer each research question by the end of the session. 3) Students should be able to recall examples of autopolyploidy and allopolyploidy and differentiate their mechanisms by the end of the session. 1. Happy November! Now that November is in, it’s finally acorn season. Let’s talk about the research we discussed in class. What was Dr. Martin trying to find in his research? 2. What must we know about the environment of urban areas versus rural areas in order to answer this question? 3. Now that we know that urban areas experience higher temperatures compared to rural areas, what did he expect to find when examining these acorn ants in both populations? What did he actually find? 4. So we now know that acorn ants in urban areas can withstand higher temperatures than acorn ants in rural areas. What were his next two follow up questions?

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
